Oh, I Forgot To Tell You
Yesterday I crossed Central Park between my resume' distribution junket. I was coming up from Lenox Hill Hospital after discovering that the wonderful "Unlimited" subway pass is indeed limited to once every eighteen minutes. After trying to correct my mistake of going to the downtown 6 train platform when I should have gone to the uptown one, I didn't want to wait for fifteen more minutes for my card to clear up (and no, the man in the subway cage wouldn't let me through after I told him of my mistake), so I decided to walk across the avenues to the number 1, 2, 3, & 9 lines, and ran into the Park a mere two avenues away!

So I walked across just as it started to snow. Everything looked covered in white felt, like the wrap at the base of an artificial Christmas tree. It's something of an adventure trying to find paths that will take you in the direction you want to go, instead of winding up twenty-five blocks farther north than you intended. There was a point during the trip where I could no longer see the buildings outside the parameters of the park. At that point, suddenly, it seemed as if I had left New York by way of magic portal. The benches, lampposts and the bridges all speak of another place in time, and when you can no longer see the 21st century skyscrapers, it's not hard to believe you've gone back there. A squirrel even came up to me for some grub, which I've never experienced before.
