The Upswing
1) I quit the nursing home job today. I had to go move my car because of alternate side parking, and I was hungry with money in my pocket so I decided to drive downtown, park on Riverside Drive, and get my breakfast on. Eggs, bacon, toast, tea and real squeezed orange juice for less than $6.00 at City Diner! I highly recommend! Well, the day was full 'o bright, sunny cool breeze, so I figured I'd walk for a while and relax. Knowing I had to quit the nursing home job sooner or later. So I called them up and did so. Quite painless. No guilt trips, no how-dare-yous, no drama. I'm thinking they were peaceful because they know they're a little shady. Getting that Medicaid money for treating Alzheimer's patients with psychotherapy. What? And they take a HUGE cut, compared to what I was getting (like 1/3 of what I get for my evening clients). Saw them shooting another episode of Law and Order: SVU, on the way back, on Riverside. (How I know? Because I asked questions. I went to the playground to watch and discovered I was all up in the shot! Standing right next to the guy they were going to shoot! COMedy! They politely asked me to move, and I had to laugh. And since my guard was down, I felt free enough to ask questions and discovered what the show was called.

2)The drummer called me yesterday about my audition. Being that he likes me for friendship, and being that he's in the mental health profession, he was very kind and helpful. And the man invited me back. What???? According to their meeting, they determined that I need to work on voice control. They said I need to tape myself and work out the flat spots. Then return in a few months when I feel more confident. Because I do have "voice".

Wow.

And did I not already say I was going to do that very thing to solve the mystery? Did I not visit a karaoke place where there are private booths and taping equipment? Was I not planning to go tomorrow afternoon and drop it like it's scalding? Why, yes, I was and thank you for asking.

Wow.

3)I got my cash-out check from an investment account from my last job. Yes I did cash it out. I wanted that money. Now I got it. It's a nice little cushion upon which I will begin to build the future of which I've hinted at herein. Next year this time? When I'm Forty?
