Much Ado About Nothing
And I've heard it said many times before that it would be. You always trump up the unknown, whether it be fear or passion. You always think it'll be more so inevitably it winds up being less. I mean it was so dark we couldn't see one another's faces, and senses were dulled by the alcohol, so that part is also bound to be blurred. Not to mention that we were making so much noise, we surely lost some precious spoken treasure in the effort to be heard.

Yeah, my very first outing in a NYC bar was destined to be mediocre. Don't you hate that?

No, actually, I'm messing with you. Just wanted to lead you on some. I actually didn't have a bad time. We were right behind the DJ's booth in a small nook. It was too dark, though. And he was blasting that music so we couldn't hear ourselves comfortably. We had to shout or get real close. And there were about eight of us.

But what I liked was that 1) there was no cigarette smoke to fend off. Hate as you like, but smoke-free establishments were the best thing to happen since subway fare cards. 2) I felt connected to the much-displayed NYC Nightlife. Those who have done it much may feel jaded by this time but for me it's brand new. 3) I don't drink alcohol, so nothing spoiled my experience from last night. I didn't wake up with a hangover either. I didn't say or do anything that I regret because I had full control of my faculties (such that it is). 4) I got to watch the micro/macrocosm that is Human Relations from the inside instead of through television. I did something instead of sat home wishing I was doing something.

Sorry I made much ado about nothing, though.
I'll make it up to ya one of these days!
