Now That I'm Forty

I turned down invitations from others than Valentine's Day girl to celebrate. Good thing because I spent my whole birthday in an office for Public Assistance to get help on my rent. ALL day. Got there at 10:00a and at 5:15p they told me to come back Wednesday at 8:30a. Hand to God true story.

Sitting there, hour after hour I just couldn't get mad at anyone because I knew that I was there for one reason; ME. This is the result of my choices. I took this contract job to counsel with at-risk kids. I made the decision not to keep the full-time position they gave me. I also made the decision not to take any more cases, after six of them have terminated. I made the decision not to pursue counseling in NJ, where my license is, in favor of waiting for NY State to open their application process for my NY license. I made the choice to quit my Trenton job to come NYC at the start of this year instead of waiting until I could get the NY license in the first place.

Premature me.

These are my choices, and I'm fairly sure that I'd not have donea single thing differently if I had the chance.

Now I'm off to church to get my spirit up off the floor. Either that, or ask God to come down on the floor with me and wallow for a while.
