La Familglia!!! (Sp?)
I finally got a call back from my cousin! You know, I really like her. By the law of genetics, we'd be allowed. She's the daughter of my mother's first cousin. Hmm, then again maybe not. But I love to hear her speak!

Anyway, look at the power of the mind! I had her all mad at me, or avoiding me, all suspicious of my motives, envisioning me strung out on crack and scrubbing for a handout...none such! She sounded just as happy to catch me as I felt at hearing her. But dig this, when I first answered, I didn't know who she was. She said her name, but it sounded like she said another name, and so I though it was one of my new employers catching up with me (one agency will be calling me to take home-cases, with info about their situation and their addresses, then off I go, like an agent on a mission. So exciting! Next week I should be getting my first case).

Right now I'm listening to Jazz Girl playing her sax in the apartment one floor down and across the airspace from me. I may put up an audioblog one day just so you can hear how awesome the sound of a city sax echo is! It's what I hear in ANY urbane music piece. Like "Captain Of Her Heart" for instance. I haven't run into her incidentally since that time a month or so ago, but I also haven't heard her in a few weeks either, so still waiting for my chance.

Meanwhile, while speaking to my cuz, she told me that my aunt had been worried about me and wondered why I hadn't called her since a month and 1/2 ago! Now, mind you, I'm pretty sure I gave her my number, but if she had called the old number, she would have been told the new one. But the woman is in her mid-eighties so I guess I can give her some slack (though you'd never know to look at her). So my cuz asked me to call my aunt and I did, and there was every bit the concern in my aunt's voice as I'd hoped for. And no, she didn't remember me giving her my present one. And no, she's not going to visit me here because she "can't walk up them steps," and then she put her son on the phone. Now mind you, my cousin had told me he was in town and staying with his sister, who lives right in the same building--(this is my cousin's mother), but the truth is that her mother has a touch of mental illness, and this I was sure of before I ever studied this stuff, so I usually don't try to visit her much. But my aunt's son has the same name as HIS son, so when my cousin told me his was in town, I thought she was talking about Junior, whom I get along with as well as I get along with her! So when Senior started speaking, I was all chummy like I was speaking to my age-peer! When he said, "How long has it been--thirty years??!" I was all, "No, I don't think QUITE that long!" But the longer we talke, the more I realized who it was and you know what---it HAS been thirty years!!!

He asked me How Old I Was. and I had to laugh. So I turned it around and asked him and he told me he was

SIXTY

FIVE

YEARS

OLD.

People, this means when I last saw him, he was a strapping 35-year old man, athletic and cool. He was younger than I am now when I last saw him. And now, he is a senior citizen. He was bragging about how he was about to collect his 2nd pension. Well, this means that his sister (my cousin's mom), and his other sister, will be in their fifties.

This means my mother would have been 70-years old this year.

Sh*t.

I'm gunna go lie down.
